Christianity Notches a Win in Malaysia

A partial win, I must say, as the Malaysian government gives and takes.

At the heart of the matter was the Catholic newspaper, Herald, using the world "Allah" (means God in the Malay language). The government argues that using the word Allah confuses the majority Muslims in the country about which God is which! Luckily the Malaysian High Court had more sense and didn't bow to government pressure by declaring that Herald could continue to use the word Allah in its publication but with the phrase "Only for Christians" printed boldly on the first page.

The majority Muslim led Malaysian government is so scared of the minority Christians in the country to the extent that its trying its best to slam the Christians at every opportunity.

Read this excellent article by Raja Petra Kamaruddin titled The Stupidity of Some Malay Muslims.

I am glad that there are some Malaysian Muslims who are quite broad minded. Unfortunately, their in the minority. The Malaysian government on the other hand is a sorry bunch of scared people.

Daylight Mugging in Lift

These incidents are not uncommon. Their not reported or shown to public because most lifts in Malaysia do not have CCTV's in them, which makes it a convenient place for stupid, lazy but dangerous men to prey on the weak. I feel for this young lady.

I support the idea of shooting perpetrators who harm or intimidate the public. Malaysia, especially, Kuala Lumpur, should be a safe place to be in. But the alarming rise in crime is really worrying. Only the Malaysian police says the crime is reducing. The public knows that this is not true. Maybe the large crimes are reducing. But the small crimes, like petty theft, snatch thieves, are increasing. And this is what affects the public the most. Are the police listening to us?

Malaysian Broadband Service from TmNet Sucks Big Time!

Malaysia's largest consumer broadband service provider again provides slower than dial-up speeds.

For the second week running, broadband Internet services from TMNet has again slowed to a crawl. Public outcries amount to nothing as TMNet holds the last mile for all telephony lines in the country. Basically, TMNet is a monopoly. And with all monopolies, the service from TMNet is slow, at best, and their customer service pathetic.

Opposition leader Lim Kit Siang intends to bring this issue up in parliament soon. I urge him to do it asap. Ministers do not face such problems as TMNet provides them with excellent service in order to keep them in line. But when it comes to public use, its a different ball game.

It's too bad that wireless services in Malaysia hasnt picked up well. Their cost is still too high and doesn't cover many areas yet. I am waiting patiently for wireless services in Malaysia to mature, I'll dump my stupid Streamyx line immediately. Hopefully I don't have to be with Streamyx for another 20 years.

My ex-company uses Maxis broadband - 4MB line. Superb line quality, low down time, good service. In my current company, we use Streamyx - slow!

I give up! Do yourself a favour. Chose Streamyx only as your last option.

What's A Good Laptop?

If you're in the market for a good laptop, how do you ever decide?

Well, thanks to PC World, although its slightly outdated by 4 months, here's a good choice for a power laptop going cheap.

Work!

"By the work one knows the workman."

Would you hire yourself based on the quality of your work? What do people say about the work that you do? Do they come to you to get a job done well or do they come to you as the last resort?

In such uncertain times, it is the man who strives to do an excellent job that makes the most of the situation. Companies do not like to let go of employees who carry out work correctly and in a timely manner.

But most of us sabotage our career by participating in idle chatter with colleagues or on the phone, surfing the Internet for hours at work, or working on non productive tasks at work, like checking our emails constantly.

The funny thing about life is that it only gives you what you put into it. Life never gives you in advance. One rule in life that most of us forget one time or the other is all work has to be done upfront first before we can expect anything from life. This is something all of us know but we just refuse to accept or believe.

There will always be people who will say that you're lousy or not good enough for them. The funny thing is that the more harder you work, the more these people seem to get upset with you. Why is that? People, by nature, hate to be left behind. And people hate to work hard. Our laziness is actually good, but more on it later. Since people are lazy to work, they have the tendency of trying to discourage any of us who are trying our best to climb up the ladder of life. This happens everywhere. Take their criticism carefully. Try to distinguish between the ones who genuinely care for you and the ones who just want to see you fail. And be glad that more people are criticizing you - this means you're doing something that others are not. And this is what irks them.

No body ever died from working hard. Hard work sharpens a man or a women. It makes them skillful in their task. Want to be a better speaker? Speak more often. Close yourself in the bathroom and sing your heart out. Want to become a better writer? What is stopping you from starting a free blog at Blogger and writing under an anonymous name. No one will know who you are and you're free to pour out your hearts content.

Life's basically all about practises. The more work you put in, the better you become. And the better you become at your work, your work becomes your signature in life.

Why I Hate Triumph on Facebook!!

If you're playing Triumph on Facebook, dont you just hate it when you log in and get your free money and when click to claim it, the page loses connection to the server and reloading the page makes you lose the money!!

I just hate it when it happens. No wonder there's lesser and lesser people playing the stupid game.

And I dont think the original developers are with the game anymore as they never reply your emails, no matter how many you send them.

What a waste of my fucking time!

Anwar's Time is Up; Selangor Next to Fall

Anwar Ibrahim's false promises have led to the loss of Perak back to Barisan Nasional (BN).

Anwar has made numerous promises that he will take over the Malaysian government but has failed to deliver on his promise. And the worst has happened. Unhappy councilmen has quite the ruling party in Perak, handing over the ruling of the state to BN. The lesson learned here is that PKR is loosely held by the promises of one man, Anwar Ibrahim. And when he failed to deliver on his promise, this is what will happen.

It has been said that Anwar doesn't want to take over the government now because he knows his lacks of experience in leading this country will fail him badly, especially in trying times like this. So, I suspect he is just bidding his time until the current government does all that they can to improve the Malaysian economy, only then will Anwar make his move.

But in politics, as in life, things don't always go as planned. With the loss of Perak, the Opposition party, PKR get weaker in Parliment.

The next to fall would be the state of Selangor. Khalid Ibrahim must be sweating in his pants by now after seeing what happened in Perak. His withdrawal of funds to two Indian PKR assembly man could lead to their defection to BN. What is Khalid going to do about it? He has called for an emergency meeting to ensure that these two Indian assembly men toe the line. I say, come  and kiss my big brown ass. You have had your say in it, now its the peoples time to speak. As painful as it seems, PKR will self destruct. Mark my words.

This proves one thing. Malaysia lives because several parties agree to work together. Malaysia doesn't live by the promises of one man, be it Anwar Ibrahim or Najib.

BN coming into power is also a bad thing since BN has a lot of corrupted officials in its fold. That was the reason the people voted them out. And yet the bumbling PKR is handing back power to BN.

Karpal Singh had the balls to voice his opinion on Anwar Ibrahim but the father and son pair of DAP, while secretly supporting Karpal's action, is pretending to be the good guys.  This is how the Chinese operate. The make the other races do the dirty work while the pretend to be saints. Such hypocrites.

While the world economy is in turmoil. the Malaysian politicians are adding more stress to the local economy with their antics. No wonder people tend to describe Malaysia had a country with first world architecture but third world mentality. Atlest we're slightly better than the stupid Hindus in India who still discrimate against women.

How CNN Used Peer-to-Peer Software On Your Computer

Many people who watched live streaming video of the inauguration of U.S. President Barack Obama on Jan. 20 may not realize that their PC was used to send the video to other PCs, too.

Clicking "yes" to a CNN.com dialog box installed a peer-to-peer (P2P) application that uses your Internet bandwidth rather than CNN's to send live video to other viewers.

The P2P application is called Octoshape Grid Delivery and is managed by Octoshape ApS, a company based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

My, My, What a Mess

What a mess the past week has been in Malaysia. Elected public servants switching parties is never an option. They were elected to office based on what they were fighting for and which party they were aligned with. And now they quit their party with the intention of joining the opposition once the current commotion dies down. This is utterly unacceptable. I will never trust such people, ever!

It seems that the new Malaysian Prime Minister will have a lot of convincing to do since majority of the Malaysian public doesn't have much faith and trust in him and his party anymore. I expect him to rule with an iron fist. That will be the end of democracy kn Malaysia. People close to the Prime Minister will be spoon fed while the rest of is have to fend for ourselves, just like the last iron fist ruler this country had.

Perak Under Siege. What Can We Do?

original message: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/inbox/readmessage.php?t=1100001582712&mbox_pos=0

Everyone, please pray. Ask God to intervene and fill DYMM Sultan Azlan with wisdom and clarity to do the right thing. Amen.

Here's what you can do...

The people has spoken yet Perak government is under siege. Read:
BN set to form Perak govt as Sultan defers decision on dissolution
http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/index.php/malaysia/17590-bn-set-to-form-perak-govt-as-sultan-defers-decision-on-dissolution

The next 48 hours is very crucial. Would DYMM Sultan Azlan Shah hand over power to BN because of the defections or call for a State Election? The decision to be made in Istana Iskandariah will be one not for Perak alone, but for the entire country. We must strive for the optimum level of political and economic stability. Read: Snap poll best bet

WHAT CAN WE DO? Here are some ideas. People, especially Perakians,

1. Send this SMS: "Gatheing in front of Perak MB's residence in Ipoh 7pm tonight Thu 5/2. Fwd on now n be there."

2. Please tell DYMM Sultan Azlan you want a State Election at his guestbook http://books.dreambook.com/duli/duli.html [ a link from his official website http://sultan.perak.gov.my/ ] Recommend that you use your real name to be taken seriously.

3. Hold a peaceful all night candlelight vigil in front of Istana Iskandariah till DYMM Sultan Azlan Shah decides.

4. At your Facebook, post this at your status bar: ": Perakians, tell DYMM Sultan Azlan you want a State Election at his guestbook http://books.dreambook.com/duli/duli.html and hold vigil at his palace. Fwd on"

No time to lose. Please forward on this message to all your friends to do the same. Post at newsgroups and discussion forums too.

How to Get Your Website to the Top on Google

Many people who start a website think that it is possible to get high rankings on Google within a few days. Unfortunately, this is not possible. Competition on the Internet is fierce and there are several factors that influence how long it takes until Google lists your website.

1. How old is your website?

If you have a brand new website then you have to wait. You can submit your website to Google but Google will only index your website if other websites link to your site.

In addition, you have to prove that your website is not spammy. Google has several filters for new websites and you have to earn Google's trust before your website can get lasting high rankings. A new website can get good rankings for less competitive keywords but it usually takes about 6 months to gain the minimum level of trust that is necessary to get high rankings.

2. How optimized was your website before?

If you have an old and established website that was blocking search engine robots due to a broken robots.txt file or a bad website navigation then it can be relatively easy to show up in search engines.

If you remove the factors that keep search engine robots from your web pages then search engines will list your website relatively quickly. Of course, this doesn't work if you have a new site.

3. How many inbound links does your website have?

If you have an old website that has very few links then it will take longer to get high rankings on Google. If your website has many inbound links, then Google will pick up the optimized pages on your website much quicker. The more quality links your website has, the quicker your optimized web pages will show up in Google's results.

4. Which keywords do you target?

This is a very important factor! The more competitive your keyword is, the longer you will have to wait to get high rankings and the more links and optimized pages you need. Start with multiple word keywords that are related to your business and then proceed to the more competitive keywords when your website has good content and inbound links.

5. Who are your competitors?

If the website that are ranked in the top 10 results for your keyword all have thousands of inbound links and more than thousand pages then it's not likely that your website will be able to get in the top 10 results if it has 10 inbound links and 20 pages. You can either wait for along time until you get top 10 rankings for that keywords (i.e. when you have a similar amount of pages and inbound links) or you can start with other keywords.

How many days, weeks or months does it take exactly?

Provided that your website has good inbound links and optimized web pages, you can get high rankings on Google within a few months if you have a brand new site and choose a very specific keyword that consists of several words. Old and established sites usually need some weeks for such a keyword.

If you target industry keywords, which usually consist of two or more words, brand new sites usually need six months to a year to get high rankings. An established site might get the same result within 3 months.

Highly competitive one word keywords usually require thousands of good inbound links. A brand new website can need several years to get high rankings for such a competitive keyword and even established sites can sometimes need more than a year.

High rankings on Google take some time. You have to optimize your web pages and you have to get good inbound links. Without these two factors, it is not possible to get high rankings on Google.

The number of inbound links is a very important factor. If you have optimized web pages but no links, then you have to build these links and you have to wait longer. If your website has a lot of inbound links then you will get high rankings quickly if you optimize your pages.
