If you find your AVG Anti Virus software constantly asking you to reboot your machine so that it can complete its update properly, you might want to go to the AVG website and download the latest version of the software, which will fix the problem once and for all.
I presume what has happened was that AVG central updated the software and made the older, free version of the software unable to update its services properly. I am also guessing that the paid users of AVG will get their proper notification, which is fair since they paid for it.
